As an artist I have dedicated my research and practice to the HeLa cell line, a cell line with huge political, social, scientific and economic background and influences. I have worked with many scientists from around the world to develop my knowledge and visual understanding of the cell. I use this research to visually represent what I see. I am currently working alongside the School of Visual Arts in New York to graft and mutate Cacti Plants- which in my eyes, represent the cell line aesthetically and textually but also give me the opportunity to explore on a more abstract level. As an artist it is important for me to bring strong scientific research into the everyday world, to familiarise the public with vital understanding of cancer research.
